As CFO, Mark Canavan has primary responsibility for the accounting function at Launch International. However, he is responsible for a variety of functions, including IT infrastructure, facilities management, communications and vendor relations.
Having graduated from Boston College in 1980 with BA degrees in Economics, Math and Computer Science, Mark’s journey to his current role at Launch has been an interesting and varied one. He began his career as a software engineer for Modular Computer Systems, working on the onboard computer system for the space shuttle. He then went to work for Raytheon Data Systems and took on various technical and sales roles – culminating in becoming the company’s number one sales rep in 1986. Mark then went to work at AutoGraphics, where he was the regional vice president of sales.
In the late 1980s, Mark took a break from high-tech sales to explore his interest in property development and management, eventually starting his own real estate development company and then later, Canavan Construction. Always one to follow a dream, Mark eventually went back to school to become a Physician’s Assistant and currently works part-time as a PA-C at Lankenau Hospital’s emergency department.
